Examining the Dialogue Between Ukraine and Serbia

АBSTRACT: The aim of this article is to try to explain the current state of dialogue between Ukraine and Serbia, its historical and international context, state, and perspectives. The article is divided into two parts . In the first part, the author examines the formation of dialogue in a historical perspective, the specific problem of the lack of clear identification of Ukrainians in the eyes of Serbs, the impact of the largest post-war conflicts in Europe on the formation of relations between Serbs and Ukrainians. In the second part, the dynamics of the development of political dialogue and the mutual perception of Serbs and Ukrainians in the period after the establishment of diplomatic relations are analysed in more detail, three stages of periodization are proposed . The author tries to explain the reasons for the changes in the nature of dialogue. The basis of dialogue remains mutual respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty. The common aspiration for EU membership is seen as a new growing factor that unites the two nations.
